- Member of the NETmundial Initiative Inaugural Coordination Council

- Co-Chair of the Future Challenges Working Group (FCWG), which he initiated when a member of ALAC in ICANN

- Member of the Internet Society (France; Belgium; San Francisco Bay Area, as its "global ambassador") 

Previous volunteer and academic work:

  • Member of the ALAC (At-Large Advisory Committee of ICANN), appointed by ICANN’s NomCom 2010-12, again 2012-14
  • Member of the ICANN Board, appointed by the NomCom, 2007-10. During his service on the ICANN Board, was active in several Committees: President's Strategy Committee, one of the authors of the "Implementation Plan for Improving Institutional Confidence"; Board Governance Committee; Structural Improvements Committee; Public Participation Committee, as its first Chair; his advocacy of Board oversight on the international and institutional relations of ICANN led to the creation of the Global Relationships Committee, of which he was one of the inaugural members. While on the ICANN Board, also served on several Board Working Groups including the ALAC Review, Board Review, and the ccNSO Review as its Chair.

Professional experience:

  • During his career as a French diplomat (1972-2005), Subrenat served, among other positions at the Foreign Ministry, as member of the Policy Planning Staff, Diplomatic Adviser to the Minister for Europe, Deputy Director for Asia and the Pacific, Alternate Director for the Americas. Abroad, he served as Secretary at the French Embassy in Singapore, Political Counsellor in Japan, Minister-counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission in Japan, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WEU, Ambassador to Estonia, Ambassador to Finland, Acting Governor to the Board of Governors of ASEF.
